INTENSIVE CARE SERVICES
We care for patients with a wide range of medical and surgical problems, including those with bariatric, gynaecological, obstetric, trauma, renal and neurological conditions.
The ICU has 12 beds which can be used interchangeably depending on the needs of patients.
The ICU team includes a range of skilled healthcare professionals who provide expert, family-centred care for patients with complex critical care needs.
The General Intensive Care Unit (GICU) of FIH provides 24-hour intensive medical service open to all types of patients of various critical conditions. It is sought after by the region for its state of the art intensive care services through the use of advanced medical practice; use state of art equipment; and to top all – the availability of qualified and experienced Intensivists.
The services include all ages above 1 month old in general. The very vast scope of intensive care applies to all pediatric cases and from simple to complicated adult medical and surgical conditions that need intensive care. The unit likewise has post- operative Renal Transplant Intensive Care in which recipients of the procedure is directly admitted in the Renal Transplant ICU inside the GICU.
The nursing staff is multi-national who are fully qualified to practice Intensive Care Nursing. All staff are basically done with 5 years ICU practice before joining the FMC.
